Abstract data-analytics dashboard with rising charts representing Palantir stock forecast for 2026

Palantir jumped double digits on 93% Q2 revenue growth and a raised outlook. Analyst price targets, the valuation math and our own bear/base/bull scenarios for PLTR.

Key takeaways

  • Palantir reported Q2 FY2026 revenue of $1.935bn on 3 August 2026, up 93% year over year, with adjusted EPS of $0.41 against a $0.35 consensus.
  • Full-year 2026 revenue guidance was raised to $8.15bn-$8.16bn from $7.65bn-$7.66bn, the third consecutive quarterly raise.
  • The post-earnings analyst consensus target is about $183, with D.A. Davidson at $200, versus the 3 August close of $125.65.
  • At roughly 40x forward revenue after the move, PLTR needs high growth to persist for several more years; our base case is $140-$185 over twelve months with 45% probability.

The near-term analyst range for Palantir (NASDAQ: PLTR) now sits roughly between $95 and $200, with a consensus target of about $183 against a 3 August 2026 close of $125.65. That gap exists because the operating business is compounding faster than almost any large software company on record — 93% revenue growth in Q2 2026 — while the multiple still prices in several more years of the same. Both halves of that sentence have to stay true for the bull case to work.

Why is Palantir stock up today?

Palantir reported second-quarter fiscal 2026 results after the close on Monday 3 August 2026 and the stock traded up 12-15% in the after-hours session, having closed the regular session at $125.65 (+2.10%). The move was a reaction to three things in the same release: a large beat, an acceleration in growth, and a third consecutive guidance raise.

Q2 FY2026 metricReportedConsensusY/Y
Revenue$1.935bn$1.81bn+93%
Adjusted EPS$0.41$0.35from $0.16
US commercial revenue$764m+149%
US government revenue$809m+90%
Net income$1.062bnfrom $327m
Adjusted operating margin62%
Adjusted free cash flow$1.220bn

Context matters for the size of the move: coming into the print, PLTR was down roughly 29% year-to-date and about 21% over twelve months, on the view that the enterprise-AI software trade had run out of road. The quarter argued the opposite, so the re-rating came off a de-rated base rather than a euphoric one.

What did Palantir guide to for the rest of 2026?

Guidance is the part that actually moves forecasts, and it moved a long way:

  • Q3 FY2026 revenue: $2.160bn-$2.164bn, roughly 8% above the sell-side estimate of about $2.0bn.
  • FY2026 revenue: raised to $8.15bn-$8.16bn from $7.65bn-$7.66bn — a $500m raise mid-year, against consensus near $7.69bn.
  • US commercial revenue: now "in excess of" $3.42bn versus $3.22bn previously, implying about 134% growth for the year.

Backlog corroborates it rather than contradicting it. Total contract value was $3.373bn (+49% y/y), US commercial TCV hit a record $2.132bn (+153%), and US commercial remaining deal value — contracted revenue not yet recognised — closed June at $6.238bn, up 124%. Palantir also closed 220 deals worth at least $1m, of which 98 were above $5m and 73 above $10m. Cash and short-term Treasuries stood at $9.2bn with no meaningful debt burden.

The single number the bulls point at is the Rule of 40 score — revenue growth plus adjusted operating margin — at 155. For a company at a $8bn annual revenue run-rate, near-100% growth alongside a 62% adjusted operating margin is a genuinely unusual combination, not a rounding artefact.

What are analysts' Palantir price targets?

Targets were being revised upward within hours of the print. D.A. Davidson's Gil Luria raised his target to $200 from $175 with a Buy rating, arguing that Palantir's model-agnostic architecture becomes a bigger advantage the faster underlying AI models change, and calling the guidance "substantially above expectations". Across the wider street, the consensus compiled by TipRanks after the report was a Moderate Buy on 20 reviews — 15 Buy, 3 Hold, 2 Sell — with an average target of $183.13, roughly 46% above the pre-move close.

Note the disagreement is almost entirely about valuation, not about whether the business is working. That is a different debate from the one around hardware-cycle names — compare the argument in our NVIDIA stock forecast for 2026, where the bear case is mostly about demand durability rather than the multiple.

Is Palantir a good buy at this valuation?

Do the arithmetic before answering. At the 3 August close, Palantir's market capitalisation was about $295bn, implying roughly 2.35bn shares. On the raised FY2026 guidance of $8.155bn, that is about 36x forward revenue pre-move, and closer to 40x after a 12% pop. Mature enterprise-software peers trade in the high single digits to mid-teens on the same measure; even the fastest-growing large-cap AI infrastructure names sit well below 30x.

What that multiple embeds, roughly: revenue continuing to compound at a high rate for several more years while adjusted operating margins hold above 55%. Management gave a partial answer on duration — Alex Karp told CNBC the current growth "looks like this is going to go on for at least another 18 months" — which supports the next four to six quarters, not the terminal value.

So the honest framing is not "cheap or expensive" but "what has to happen". Nothing in this quarter says the multiple is wrong; it says the denominator is growing into it faster than the bears modelled.

MarketsHQ scenario table for PLTR into mid-2027

This is our own weighting, not a consensus repackage. It assumes the shares reopen near $140 after the after-hours move and prices twelve months out.

ScenarioProbabilityRangeWhat has to happenInvalidation level
Bull25%$195-$230US commercial growth stays above 100% into FY27, FY27 revenue guided above $13bn, adjusted margin holds above 60%A quarter where US commercial growth drops below 90%
Base45%$140-$185Growth decelerates gradually to the 55-70% range through FY27 while margins hold; multiple compresses slower than revenue growsTwo consecutive quarters without a guidance raise
Bear30%$85-$120Any government budget slippage or a commercial pipeline that converts more slowly; the multiple does the work on the way downA reclaim and hold above the post-earnings gap high

Two asymmetries worth naming. First, at 40x sales the stock does not need bad news to fall 30% — a merely good quarter is enough, which is exactly what happened between January and July 2026. Second, the government half of the business (roughly $809m of the quarter, +90%) is exposed to appropriations timing that has nothing to do with product quality, and that risk is not diversifiable by holding the stock alone. Investors who want AI exposure without single-name gap risk usually pair it with broad funds — see our comparison of the best ETFs for 2026 by category.

Where does PLTR trade from here technically?

The relevant levels after a gap of this size are mechanical rather than exotic. The post-earnings gap zone between roughly $126 and $141 is the first reference: gaps that fill within two sessions usually mark exhaustion, while gaps that hold for a week tend to become support. Above that, the year's earlier distribution shelf in the $150s is the first real supply. On the downside, a close back below the pre-earnings $125.65 close would say the market did not believe the guidance raise, and the six-month lows become live again.

Earnings-driven gaps in high-multiple software names are also where implied volatility collapses hardest the morning after, so option-based expressions bought into the print bleed quickly even when the direction is right. If you are tracking the next set of catalysts, the earnings calendar has the Q3 date, and our index trading signals hub covers the Nasdaq exposure that dominates PLTR's beta.

What to watch next

  • Q3 FY2026 results (November 2026): whether the $2.16bn guide is beaten by the same ~7% margin, and whether FY27 is framed above $13bn.
  • US commercial deal count: the 220 deals above $1m and the $6.24bn remaining deal value are the leading indicators; a stall there precedes a revenue stall by two to three quarters.
  • Government appropriations and AI-sovereignty contracts: the largest single swing factor on the government line.
  • Margin discipline: a 62% adjusted operating margin funds the growth internally; any slide below the mid-50s changes the valuation debate materially.

How we produced this analysis

Every figure above comes from Palantir's own Q2 FY2026 release and management commentary on the 3 August 2026 earnings call, cross-checked against contemporaneous reporting from CNBC, Benzinga, SiliconANGLE and TipRanks; each is listed with its publication date in the sources below. Valuation multiples are our calculation from the reported market capitalisation and the company's raised FY2026 revenue guidance. The scenario table is our own weighting, produced by the MarketsHQ desk and reviewed by the author; it is not a consensus figure and it will be revisited after Q3 results.

Risk warning: this article is information, not investment advice. Single-stock positions in high-multiple software names carry significant drawdown risk — PLTR fell roughly 29% in the first seven months of 2026 while the underlying business was still accelerating. Never risk capital you cannot afford to lose, and size positions accordingly.
