XRP Price Prediction 2026: What the Data Actually Supports

XRP just rallied roughly 49% off a two-year low to about $1.48. Here is what the flows, the forecasts and the September regulatory calendar actually support for the rest of 2026.

Key takeaways

  • XRP trades near $1.48 on 22 August 2026, up roughly 49% in five sessions from a two-year low of $0.9877 printed on 11 August.
  • Standard Chartered is the only major bank with a live target: $2.80 for end-2026, cut from $8.00 on 12 February 2026, with $12.60 for 2028 and $28 for 2030.
  • US spot XRP ETFs took a net $39.78m last week — about 0.13% of the market value XRP added in the same five days, so ETF flow is not what drove the breakout.
  • Our base case is $1.20-$1.90 into year-end; a weekly close back below $1.00 invalidates it and reopens the August low.

Short answer: XRP trades at about $1.48 (Kraken, 22 August 2026), up roughly 49% in five sessions after printing a two-year low near $0.99 on 11 August — and still down around 40% from its January high of $2.41. The only major bank publishing a formal XRP target, Standard Chartered, cut its end-2026 call to $2.80 in February. That is the honest range to work with: a recovered token in a broken yearly trend, with one dated institutional target roughly 90% above spot and a September regulatory vote that decides whether the move has legs.

Below: where XRP actually stands, what is and is not driving this rally, the published forecasts with dates attached, and our own scenario table with the levels that invalidate each case.

Two things in that table matter more than the price itself. First, XRP spent almost the entire year defending $1.00 and finally lost it on 11 August, printing its lowest level since late 2024 — it was the worst year-to-date performer in the top ten. Second, the recovery since has been violent: roughly 49% in five sessions, adding about $30bn of market value. This is a bounce inside a downtrend that has not yet been repaired, not a new uptrend with a base behind it. We covered the same week from the macro side in crypto rallying while stocks stall.

What is actually driving the move — and what is not

It is not the ETFs

The most-repeated explanation for the breakout is institutional ETF buying. The arithmetic does not support it. US spot XRP ETFs took in a net $39.78m last week — the best week since May, and a genuine improvement on the $1m weekly prints seen earlier in August. But set against a roughly $93bn market cap, that is 0.04% of the asset. Set against the ~$30bn of market value XRP added in the same five days, the entire week of ETF flow is about 0.13% of the swing.

The longer record says the same thing. XRP ETFs have pulled in $1.51bn cumulatively since launching in November 2025, yet combined assets stood at only about $1.0bn on 19 August — the price decline has eaten the difference. Bitwise's fund leads on cumulative inflow at $516m, Franklin's XRPZ at $429m. These are real products with real demand; they are simply too small a rail to move a top-five token by 49% in a week.

It is beta, positioning and a September catalyst

The more defensible reading is three-part. Bitcoin held near $78,000 through the same window while equities sold off, so the whole complex had a risk-on bid — the mechanics of that rotation are in our altcoin season index piece. XRP had been the most-sold major of 2026, so it had the most trapped short and stop-loss fuel above $1.00. And a dated catalyst finally exists: Senate Majority Leader John Thune has scheduled a cloture vote on the CLARITY Act — the market-structure bill that would write XRP's commodity status into federal law — for 15 September 2026.

Supply behaviour supports the positioning read. CryptoQuant data to 19 August shows combined XRP reserves across Binance, Upbit and Bithumb falling from roughly 11.08bn to 10.84bn tokens since late May — about 240m XRP withdrawn from exchanges, which reduces immediately sellable float.

One caveat readers deserve: outside Standard Chartered, almost every "XRP price prediction 2026" figure circulating online comes from algorithmic forecast sites that extrapolate moving averages. Those are not analysis and we do not reproduce them. Kendrick's own conditions are explicit — the $2.80 near-term case needs only a broad crypto recovery, while the $7–$12.60 path requires the CLARITY Act to pass and ETF inflows to scale past $4bn, roughly 2.6x the cumulative total raised so far.

Our read: three scenarios and what breaks each one

These are our own bands, built from the levels above rather than from anyone's published target. Probabilities are our subjective weighting, not a model output.

ScenarioEnd-2026 bandWhat has to happenInvalidated by
Base (~50%)$1.20 – $1.90Bitcoin holds the mid-$70,000s, CLARITY stalls without dying, ETF flow stays in the tens of millions per weekA weekly close back under $1.00, which reopens the 11 August low
Bull (~25%)$2.40 – $2.90Cloture clears on 15 September and the bill advances; ETF weekly flow steps up an order of magnitude; XRP reclaims the January $2.41 highA failed cloture vote — 60 votes are needed and Republicans hold 53 seats
Bear (~25%)$0.70 – $1.00Crypto-wide risk-off resumes, the bill slips past the midterms, ETF assets keep shrinking against outflowing valueA sustained reclaim of $1.70 with rising spot volume

The single most useful level to watch is $1.00. It was the floor for most of 2026, it broke on 11 August, and a level that fails as support and then caps a rally becomes resistance. XRP is now above it again — holding it on a weekly closing basis is the minimum evidence that this is a base rather than a squeeze.

What about 2027 to 2030?

Long-horizon XRP targets are a statement about adoption, not about price action, and they need different arithmetic — escrow releases keep adding to circulating supply, which changes what any given price implies. We treat that as a separate question in our XRP price prediction for 2030, including the supply-adjusted maths behind Standard Chartered's $28 call.

How XRP compares with the other majors

XRP's 2026 has been worse than its peers': bitcoin was the best of the top four and still lost roughly 29% year-to-date by mid-August, with ethereum down about 37% and solana about 40%, while XRP fell roughly 46%. That underperformance is exactly why the bounce was so sharp — and why it is fragile. If you are weighing the majors against each other, our bitcoin price prediction and ethereum price prediction pages use the same scenario format, and the top altcoins guide covers where XRP sits structurally.

How traders get exposure, and the risk

Three routes, with different risks. Spot XRP on a regulated exchange gives direct ownership and custody responsibility. US spot XRP ETFs give a brokerage-wrapped version with a management fee and no self-custody — assets of about $1.0bn make them thinner than the bitcoin or ether equivalents. CFDs give leveraged two-way exposure, where a 49% weekly move works against you exactly as fast as it works for you.

Size accordingly: XRP printed a 24-hour range of $1.36 to $1.68 on 22 August alone, a 23% spread. A position sized for equity volatility is mis-sized here. Traders tracking setups on the majors can follow our crypto signals hub, and anyone starting from scratch can open a trading account — but nothing here is investment advice, and XRP remains one of the highest-volatility assets in the top ten.

How we produced this

Every level in this article was checked against a named venue or data provider on 22–23 August 2026 and is dated in place. Flow figures come from SoSoValue prints as reported, exchange-reserve data from CryptoQuant, and the only institutional target quoted is Standard Chartered's, with its publication date and its stated conditions. The scenario bands are ours and are weighted subjectively; they are stated with the level that invalidates each one so a reader can check us against the tape. Research was AI-assisted and reviewed by the author before publication.
