Fundamental Analysis

Markets

Fundamental analysis values an asset from economic, financial and policy data rather than from its price history.

In forex the inputs are interest-rate differentials, inflation, growth, employment and central-bank guidance. In equities they are earnings, margins, cash flow and valuation multiples. In commodities they are physical supply, inventories and demand.

Fundamentals explain why a trend exists and can persist for months; they are poor at timing entries. Most professional processes use fundamentals for direction and bias and technicals for execution.
