Bitcoin

Crypto

Bitcoin is the first decentralised cryptocurrency, a peer-to-peer digital asset secured by proof-of-work mining with a fixed 21 million supply cap.

Launched in 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin settles transactions on a public blockchain roughly every ten minutes without a central issuer. Supply issuance is fixed by protocol and steps down at each halving.

For traders it behaves as a high-volatility risk asset that is sensitive to real interest rates, dollar liquidity and ETF flows, with 24/7 trading and no scheduled market close.
